Montessori Community School is a good solution for parents of young 5’s and 6’s.

Time to grow
Our private kindergarten welcomes children at all levels of academic and social development and provides a rich educational environment that supports individual differences. At the end of the academic year parents and teachers, working together, can decide if a child is ready for first grade or would profit from another year of enrichment and growth. In a Montessori school it is typical for children to spend 2 years in the same classroom environment. Clearly, at Montessori there is none of the public school stigma sometimes attached to choosing another year to bloom and grow.

The best of two educational programs
Our kindergarten curriculum integrates the Literacy Framework Collaborative and Assessment developed by Ohio State University and The Everyday Mathematics Curriculum along with the Montessori philosophy. The Montessori approach offers a concrete and experiential learning foundation in math, reading, writing, science, geography, and social studies. The kindergarten room is a carefully constructed learning environment that stimulates challenges and creates a curiosity about learning. In most instances, the Montessori kindergartner experiences a seamless transition to the public school first grade.

Smaller classes and more teachers
Our teacher/child ratio is better than any offered in public school kindergartens. Our kindergarten classroom has two full-time teachers who hold degrees in elementary education. In addition, two young and talented late-day teachers bring vitality and energy to the close of the day.

Less stress for young children
A consistent, predictable environment is critical to a young child¹s good mental health. Children who attend our private school do not have to be shuffled around from school to school in order to have quality wrap-around care. Children do not have to adjust to several different classrooms, to several different teaching styles and to conflicting or confusing sets of rules. The nurturing, supportive, home-like environment provided by our kindergarten teachers and assistants provides a stable, reliable, safe and consistent environment for young children. The carpeted, air-conditioned classrooms, full of good art, plants, computers, easels, lots of toys and incredible learning materials, provide a comforting home away from home atmosphere.

More time for fun
The longer day provides more opportunities for music, art, dramatic play, arts and crafts, science experiments, outdoor play, hikes, team sports, games, field trips, festivals and celebrations.
