At Montessori Community School LLC in Newark, OH, our top priority is providing the highest standard of care for children from six weeks to 12 years of age. We work hard to ensure children are successful in school and have the foundation for a bright future! We work closely with parents , providing several opportunities for participation throughout the school year, because we believe parents are an integral part of a child’s learning experience. Our classrooms, which all include security cameras, are designed to keep children safe and secure as they learn.

Little Lambs Room (Infants)

Our infant program is based in helping infants develop cognitively, socially and emotionally in a safe and secure environment.We strive to achieve a quality one-on-one relationship with each child. Our nurturing staff work hard to help your baby meet each milestone in their development. With our small group sizes and low staff-to-child ratios, you can rest assured your infant is in good hands, receiving the highest standard of care.

Krystal Grumm
Krystal Grumm is one of the co-lead teachers in the Little Lamb Room. Krystal has her CDA in Infant/Toddler care since 2011. She has been in the Little Lamb Room since 2010 and has been employed at Montessori Community School over 8 years working with older infants and toddlers. Krystal along with her co-lead creates and implements individual lesson plans for each infant.
Angie Ullom
Angie Ullom is one of the co-lead teachers in the Little Lamb Room. Angie has been at Montessori Community School since 2016. She is as OSU graduate with a BS in Psychology and an AAS in Human Services. Angie offers nurturing care while monitoring and documenting each child’s development. Angie enjoys spending time with her family outside outside of working with the infants.
Safari Room (1 & 2 Year Olds)

Older infants are busy learning about themselves, their feelings and other people all while being encouraged in growth and development, learning independence, social skills and more, in a safe and nurturing environment. We incorporate music, beginning sign language, songs and fingerplays throughout the day. Outdoor play allows great large motor skill development and exploring.

Lice’liz Lee
Lice’liz Lee is the lead teacher in the Safari Room. Lee has been employed at Montessori Community School since 2000 and the lead in the Safari since 2008. Lee has her Child Development Associate Credential based in infant and toddler care. Lee continues to educate herself in infant and toddler classes throughout the year. She looks forward everyday to offer great learning experiences for the children.
Teddy Bear Room (Toddlers)

Our toddler room hosts children from 18 months to three years old in an all-day program. In this room children are always on the go. Circle time and small group time promotes book reading, fingerplays and songs that allow the child to participate. Music, movement, sand and water activities are just a few of the interactive learning opportunities that are offered daily. Play that encourages imagination and curiosity but also allows development of friendship and sharing. Outside on the playground encourages running, climbing, swinging and trike riding.

Julie Knighton
Julie Knighton is the lead teacher for the Teddy Bear Room. She has been employed with Montessori Community School since 2007 and received her CDA based in Infant and Toddlers in 2015. Julie’s greatest joy working with the toddlers is seeing the achieve goals and reach milestones in the year we spend together.
Bumblebee Room (3 & 4 Year Olds)

The Bumblebee Room is home to our all-day preschool classes that run Monday through Friday. We offer developmentally age appropriate activities through play, art, sensory, music and songs. Small groups allow more interaction with the children. We understand that children learn at different rates and adjustments are made to accommodate their learning style. Sensory activities, book reading, play that encourages imagination and social development throughout the day.

Erin Sickels
Erin Sickels is the lead teacher in the Bumblebee Room. She has been in the early childhood field for 20 years and has been employed at Montessori Community School since 2014. Erin has many hours of training and experience with young children and applies this to lesson planning along with her creative activities. Erin enjoys spending time with her family.
Sunshine Room (4 & 5 Year Olds)

Four and five year olds enjoy our all-day pre-kindergarten classes Monday through Friday in the Sunshine Room. The Sunshine room offers a structured environment that encourages problem solving, independence and socialization. In our preschool, students are assessed in letter recognition, name writing, number sense, shapes and social skills to help prepare them for success in kindergarten. The children have the opportunity to explore with music, art materials and the ability to choose from an array of activities. Yoga is also a great experience for all the preschool classrooms.

Katy Wells
Katy Wells is the lead teacher in the Sunshine Room. She has been employed at Montessori Community School since 2005. Katy has been the lead teacher since 2010 in the Bumblebee Room and moving to the lead in the Sunshine Room in 2016. Katy is the Summer Camp Extreme Lead and program developer. She has a BS in Mild/Moderate in Special Education. Katy is also the assistant director. Her goal is to help every child be successful and 100% prepared for Kindergarten.
Discovery Room (Part Time, 3, 4 & 5 Year Olds)

The Discovery Room hosts our preschool program for children 3, 4, and 5 years old. This room is usually a smaller class size and allows more one-on-one interaction. Our preschool runs two, three, four or five mornings a week, end of August through the end of May.
Kim Alton
Kim Alton is the lead teacher in the Discovery Room. She has her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. Kim has over 10 years experience in childcare and has been with Montessori Community School for 5 years. She enjoys preschool age children and preparing them for kindergarten.
Kindergarten Room (All Day)

Our Kindergarten program is chartered by the Ohio Department of Education, so our children receive a curriculum that matches public school requirements, as well as learning tools such as iPads, Chromebooks, manipulatives, and other hands-on materials. Our Kindergarten teacher is certified by the Ohio Department of Education. This program is perfect for children of parents who work full days. We are open during most public school vacations, snow days, and other school closing days for your convenience.
Kelsee Saylor
Kelsee Saylor is the Kindergarten teacher for Montessori Community School. She graduated from Ohio State University in 2015 with a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education. This is her first year at our school. She is looking forward to enriching the children with many experiences throughout the school year with excitement and fun.
Elementary (Before & After School Care)

Our center offers before and after school care for local elementary school students. Our before school program is open from 6:30 a.m. until school start time, and our after school program is open from the end of the school day until 6 p.m. We have a bus on-site that provides transportation to and from local schools. We offer a comfortable, home-like atmosphere for children to feel relaxed and secure after a long school day. Our school-age children are able to play inside and outside as well as read,work on homework, enjoy a healthy snack and more.
*Our rates vary depending on Before, After or Both. We also offer late start or school out/snow days and some holidays. Please check with the office for pricing.
Camp Extreme (Summer Camp for School Age)

Our center offers a summer camp for school age children K-6th grade. The classes are divided K-1st and 2nd-6th to allow more age-appropriate planned activities. The classes join together on field trips in house and outside of school. We offer a variety of fun activities throughout the week along with those quieter activities that allow for reading and imaginative writing. We teach responsibility, independence, problem solving, respect and positive character traits. A few of our field trips may include pool day, putt-putt, Dawes Arboretum, Ice Cream Day, Field Day, Science Days, Cooking projects, Humane Society and many more. We value education and want the children to have fun but learn as well.
